The Visual Arts Group

About the Visual Arts Group

After 60 years as part of the Warrandyte Arts Association the Visual Arts Group (known as the Painting Group until 2017) is still going strong.

The group had a temporary lull from 2013, with the retirement of long-time co-ordinator, Pauline Cross. However, we have reformed in 2017, giving members the choice of painting or drawing, outdoors or indoors, on a weekly basis.

We aim to encourage members – beginners, what ever reason you wish to paint and those who have painted for many years. We foster friendship, development and appreciation for the Arts. We provide facilities for Art expression, exhibiting our work as a group at various exhibitions and functions. We do not encourage competition between Members.

Over the years we have had some fun times away painting together as a Group, down to Sorrento up to Maldon, many and various locations, staying in Members’ cottages or renting.

We currently meet at the hall on Fridays at 9.30am, and those wishing to paint or draw out of doors then decide where to go. This arrangement may change when the new group wishes to venture further afield, requiring more forward planning.

We bring our lunch and work on into the early afternoon.

We invite you to join us for enjoyable and creative days, using the media of your choice.

In addition to the painting group, there is also an active Life Drawing group in the hall on Friday mornings and Still Life on Friday afternoons. For information about these activities and about possible portraiture sessions, please contact Marin Cooper on 0408 395 299
