by John Cariani

Directed by Phyl Swindley

In a cold, clear, moonless Friday night in the middle of winter, all is not quite what it seems in the remote, mythical town of Almost, Maine. As the northern lights hover in the star-filled sky above, residents of Almost find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and often hilarious ways. Knees are bruised; hearts are broken. Love is lost, found, and confounded. But the bruises heal hearts mend—almost—in what has been described as "a comic, romantic round roundelay" by The Wall Street Journal,

“a wooly midwinter night’s dream” by The Dallas Observer, “Love in the time of frostbite” by The New York Sun, “a sweet-natured valentine to fools and idioms” by The Los Angeles Times, and “an effervescent yet deeply felt tragicomedy” by The Melbourne Age. ALMOST, MAIN inventively explores the mysteries of the human heart, touching audiences with laughter, heartbreak and hope.

Held in October/November, “Almost, Maine” by John Cariani was our main play for 2011.
